European Euphoria: The Spa Experience Workshop
A True Vacation!
Spa Workshop (NFC): For those seeking relaxation and to complement the original spa experience through visiting architecturally impressive European spas featuring Salt and Sauna Caves and Mountain High Open-Air Natural Hot Springs. Relax tired muscles, stimulate circulation, provide the body with much need oxygen in thermal waters that have been enriched with minerals and positively charged for over hundreds of years… let go and get in touch with the joys and beauty of life. A rejuvenating experience enjoyed by both men and women to reduce stress, promote relaxation, increase circulation, eliminate toxins, increase range of motion and fexibility and balance the mind, body and spirit. Once a week, the day will begin with a full introductory, privately guided tour of one of Europe’s fantastic spas. Each spa facility features specifc types of therapies i.e. hydro/water; herbal; mineral; medicinal; full-body, scalp, foot and facial massages; detoxifying body wraps; exfoliating salt scrubs; and others. Spas visited are of the utmost exclusiveness to Austria, featuring delightful, scenic and selective locations such as the ancient Gastein Goldberg mine stem baths cut out of the side of the rock and enriched with salty air and the hot, relaxing, bubbling spring waters of Felsentherme with views of the Hohe Tauern mountain range. After each tour, spend the remainder of the day relaxing in the spa’s facilities and/or indulging in favorite a la carte spa services i.e. toning facials, smooth river stone massages, mud baths, aromatherapy, refexology, neuromuscular therapy, essential oil treatments, circulatory healing massages, manicures and pedicures, etc. During the week learn though lecture sessions about the Alpine way of creating healthier lifestyles with visits to organic food/beauty supplies shops, tours of traditional organic open-air markets, and understanding the general Austrian health concept of affecting the whole person, mind and body, by improving both physically, mentally, and emotionally. Mountain hikes, exploration walking tours, yoga and/or meditation sessions will also be offered through-out this cross-cultural experience. With the Program’s main location at the foot of the Untersberg mountain, the serenity of this setting acts as an integral part of the restorative process; come enjoy the miraculous healing power of this unique workshop experience. There is something for everyone young or old; for those in need of recuperation as well as for people full of life, vim and vigor!!

Local Austrian, Frau Heidi Ziller, was raised in the lovely district of Grödig, growing up climbing the Untersberg mountain, located in her back yard, and living a typical, healthy, organic way of life. Frau Ziller, fluent in English (as well as several other languages), teaches Social Studies and World Economics in the local Hauptschule during the regular school year and is a professional tour guide during the summer months. Presently on a one year sabbatical, Frau Ziller is touring the world as a guide with Celebrity Cruises, and will return home, to Salzburg in June. Her knowledge of the local customs, history, culture, people and ttractions is unsurpassed and her commitment to personal health and exercise is second nature. Frau Ziller’s desire to share her way of live is strong, and her enthusiasm and fun spirit always shine. She has personally visited every spa in the Salzburg area, some countless times. At ease with children and adults, her desire is to make sure everyone gets to know and love Austria and the Austrian way of life.

REQUIREMENTS & ADDITIONAL FEES
Open to all students (16+) interested in personal relaxation. Workshop fees are: $600 (billed separately in the Spring by CSA) and include periodic workshop sessions, spa entrance fees, private tours and ransportation to/from three selected spas. Additional fees: may include towel/mat (participants are commended to bring their own, if possible), comfortable work-out shoes/clothes, etc. and costs incurred for any specifc, personally desired spa treatments, and/or for locker/equipment rentals, etc. (Special and/or additional spa treatments not included.)
